I am looking for a new shotgun and was mainly looking at the benelli SBE 2, Winchester SX3 , and the browning maxus. Looking for any input for any of the guns. Also do the gas chambered guns work good in cold weather?

I think you have a good list, but I would add the berretta Extrema2 to the list.  It is my personal choice.  I have hear good and bad on the SBE2.

I have shot an sx3 since 07. Brother shoots an x3, roommate shoots an x3, uncles shoots an x3, other freinds shoot x3's. Not one of them has a complaint. Matter of fact, they all are winchester shooters for good now.

And another positive is you won't be overpaying for those damn benelli's. Personally I think they are highly overrated. But the most important thing at the end of the day is not the price tag, its how it comes to your shoulder and how it feels and reliability. I have heard very good things about the xtrema2 as well. Maxus is pretty much the same gun as the x3, with a different stock and a shell lock. which is a nice feature i miss. (Used to be on the browning A5)

I use my gun hard and have never had a misfire with any type loads, it shoots it all.

Went rooster hunting a couple years ago when it was -20 and -40 and extrema 2 was the only gun that never jammed. I suppose I should clean it one of these days, it's been like 6 years since the last time I did.

I second the SX3, ive shot one for  a few years now and never had a problem with it in any conditions.  Ive also never had a semi-auto that was that easy to take apart and clean

SX3 is what I shoot as well and love it,Altough I would not get the dro-touch armor as mine pealed off.

meant to say -20 but -40 with wind chill. It was a spot close to town.

I am in the same boat at bonecollector about looking into a new shotgun. I was just wondering if  anyone tried or heard much on the Versa Max.

What about the Win SX2? Is there much difference? I  read a recent review on a new Stoeger that interested me also.

I own a SX2 and a SX3- both have been good performers- The SX3 has a better fit and is more adjustable for stock changes.  Never had a jam or misfire with either.  Only complaint is the trigger guard is a bit small with gloves in cold weather.  I'm a big guy and this might not be an issue for you. Know a good place to buy 3XL gloves?

The X2 is an equally good performer in my opinion. My dad has shot one going on ten years. The only difference in my opinion is the stock is blockier then the x3. I am sure there is a few mechanical changes moving up the X3. x3 comes off as lighter and swings better to me. All comes down to which feels better.

If you shop around, you can find the 3.5 inch/synthetic X3 for around 900 new. (I know someone who bought one at scheels in fargo for this price last spring) Most places are wanting 1000-1200. When they first came out I bought mine for 700 at scheels in Grand Forks, but I havent seen that deal since. You can also look at standard 3in or wood and everything in between and find a good deal!...shop around!

If the benelli truely feels the best on your shoulder, it is a great gun as well. But prepared to pay a premium above all the others.
