My brother and his wife, very stout democrats and 9 year old daughter were over a few months ago . He and his wife were so proud of the girl when she proceeded to tell me that when she grew up and had a job she was going to give all her money to the poor people she always saw behind McDonalds. Well I told her she could come back to my place the next Saturday and Sunday and pull all the weeds in my backyard and I'd pay her 50 dollars and then I'd drive her down to McDonalds and she could give it to the poor . She thought about it abit and said "Why don't you just hire the poor people and pay them the 50 dollars" ?  I told her "Welcome to the republican party" !!  Her parents haven't talked to me since .

Zman, that was a great post and a classic story. and if it was truly your own experience, it's even more a classic!  turns out it'll be shared across the internet and attributed to many others, but all in the name of spreading reality so that's ok, too!

Alternative to the story, after nearly failing the second test, the students realize the professor isn't playing around and study their asses off. Or they drop the class before the deadline.

This ones been around for a long long time in slightly different variations. The first one I remember reading was about pilgrims.

That's cute and everything, but it would probably be the proper thing to do to admit that  that didn't happen to you if you want to preserve your credibility. Especially since people are giving you credit for it.

Why does it seem as if every topic like this starts out fairly good natured with some laughs, only to later devolve into a hateful mess of name calling, finger-pointing, and general discontent? How about we just enjoy some tongue-in-cheek. Come back with a silly story of your own, or counter with some ribbing. Don't let anger take it over.
