Today, throughout all TON Sites, new subscription options will start to become available.

The first launched today is the ability to subscribe to a Forum.  When subscribing to a forum, you have the option to choose your notification type:

None - No Notification
Immedia - Send an email when a new topic is posted to the forum
Daily Digest - 1 email per day with all new posts
Weekly Digest - 1 email per week with all new posts

The "subscribe" link appears top-right when viewing a forum....

Additional links will start to appear throughout the day.

Also note the addition of the "feed" link, for those with RSS Readers, google home pages, etc. they may add feeds within TON

Eric,

Thanks.  That will be a good set of features.

One thing I'd like to make sure we have is for members to be able to choose what they get notified about.  For instance, many probably don't care about new posts on all talk forums.  Or don't care about talk forums unless they started them.  But they still might not want to be notified...although, some may.  So, can that be a feature they can turn on or off?  Maybe give them a list that they can "check" so they choose what forums they get updated on?

And more important.  I believe we MUST get notifications set so people can make sure they are updated on comments.  Comments on reports, photos, articles, etc.  Those are more "personal" than a talk forum is and I think if we got it set so they didn't get annoyed with an over run on other notifications and just for comments that people would use the feature more.  Hence, post more because they are aware comments are being made.  I seriously don't think many realize comments are available.

That is just a few suggestions.  Thanks Eric!

Eric,

I didn't see a box to check to apply for notifications on talk forums.  All I saw was for buddy requests, comments and when I'm sent a private message.

Also, I think we should have a feature or option where people can be notified of other websites.  Or maybe this does that already?  But even if it does, we should have an option for people to be able to choose which sites they would like to be notified about regarding posts, articles, etc.

And another thing, is it possible to set the notifications so I am notified when ever there is a comment posted OTHER than the article, photo or whatever I posted?  I'm curious in many comments regarding direct content and would like to be notified about all comments and not just comments on articles I have made.  Make sense?

Anyway, like I said, I didn't see a check box to be notified about talk forums.  Maybe I am looking in the wrong spot?

Hi Tim - Here is how it is currently setup.

If you check the box "Notify me when someone posts a comment on my content" - this will send you an email for all comments EXCEPT for the Talk Forums.

Talk forums are individually subscribed to via the "Subscribe" link.  You can choose to get notified for all comments on a single post, or, subscribe to a forum to receive notification when new Posts are made.

Does this make sense how this works...? - or, maybe I set it up to confusingly?

Eric,

I was doing some thinking on this.  Right now, I do not recieve any notifications on new talk forums.  I would like to specifically recieve notifications from this website.  If I chose to be informed of a new post or talk forum from this site will I get all talk forums from SDO, FBO, NSO, etc?  Or just from this site.  I guess I can answer my own question and test it myself...
