Horsager Joined: 08/12/2003 Location: ND	Just a question if folks become really attached to particular tools of the trade? I have a 12ish yr old PSE Thunderbolt I can't seem to replace, it just works for me when I pick it up. My 270 is the other. It's accurate but more than that in the field I feel more confident with it over anything I own or have shot, even rifles that were more accurate on paper. Shotguns to me are more like tools. I certainly have my preferences but in a pinch can pretty much make due with whatever happens to be close. How about other folks, are they "tools" or "Dearly Beloved"?

kdm Joined: 09/05/2008 Location: ND	Rifles are more treasure for me. I get real upset when I get a new ding in one. Shotguns are more of a tool to use. I don't notice dings and scratches on my scatterguns. I just keep them clean and serviceable.

MossyMO Joined: 11/12/2003 Location: ND	My 870 12 ga. and the Ruger .223 are equal to my dremel and radial arm saw; have multiple uses, reliable and a must have to own for me.

jokostel Joined: 10/24/2005 Location: ND	Guess If I had to choose one rifle as my "go-to", it would most likely be my Ruger 300 Win Mag that I restocked. The runner up would be the 7 RUM Scendero II that my father gave me.

kzz1king Joined: 01/13/2006 Location: ND	They are all tools to me. I dont care for trailer queen motorcycles or hunting weapons that only get passed around to stroke and look at. I make my living with tools so do place a great deal of value on them. Used but not abused.

Fox Island Outfitter Joined: 02/25/2002 Location: ND	They are both for me, but I don't mind a character mark or two on them either. I've always been a shotgun guy so those are my babies, but I use the heck out of each of them. My bows would be next on the list, I know em inside and out and because I use my bow more than any gun I own I tend to become a little more attached, but I also replace bows more often than guns. I'm not much of a rifle guy, but each one has a special place in my heart, and I know they are ready and reliable for when I need it. Only a couple of those could never be replaced, the others are always for sale with the right price.
	The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. hunttomuch Joined: 10/05/2007 Location: MT	I have an old Ithica 12 gauge shotgun with an adjustable choke on the end that was my 1st gun my grandpa gave to me when I was 12. He is no longer alive but it's the only shotgun i hunt with. If I need a plug for it still have the old #2 pencil he put in it. Last year after 1000's of rounds the fireing pin stopped working. Took it to a local guy and he cleaned her up and it works like a champ. Man I love that gun. Other than that I don't have a go to bow. Just get a new one every year so I don't get to attached to them. i do however love my 44 Mag lever gun. It raises hell on the blackies!

NDSHOOTER Joined: 12/01/2004 Location: ND	Have many firearms that I've inherited over the years from parents, relatives and close friends. I do use them all on certain occasions, but choose to hunt with only a few. My 'go-to' rifle would be my custom Model 70 .264 Win.Mag.Can't decide on shotguns. Love my Glock 27 in 40S&W for concealed carry. They're all treasures to me.
	I carry a gun cuz cops are to heavy.

bucksnbears Joined: 05/05/2007 Location: MN	confidence is EVEYTHING.... i have a savage model 12 22-250 that is so accurate it's spooky. no matter what loads i shoot through it, BUT, it's so heavy i don't carry it much anymore. i've put it for sale numerous times and when somebody calls, i tell them its already been sold. it just plain works for me and have made some unreal (field) shots with it... it may agther dust but i KNOW IT WILL COME THROGH IF I NEED IT
	the more food you have in your mouth, the better you can taste it !!
