Hello-

Why does the shaft of my 2010 Mercury 25 HP turning white?  Why do I see this on motors in this area?  What causes this and how can I fix it?

What causes hard water? Our outboards on Lake Michigan do not get these marks, what is it about the water in North Dakota, This year I spent more time on Devils Lake than any other.

Then it is hard water stains if you have been on Devils a bit. Safe AR Hull Cleaner will take that off quicker than anything ,available online or Scheels. If you dont want to do that, use a white vineagar/water solution and that along with elbow grease will get it off.
