I'd like to see a listing of which companies have the best and worst safety record regarding "their" drivers.  Say the top and bottom 20.  I know that every single company that has anyone drive in an "official" capacity harps and trains on safety but who does the best job and who does the worst?  It would have to be based on verifiable incidents.  Traffic violations, accidents and involuntarily leaving the roadway would suffice for me.  Someone who gets stuck in the mud or snow on a road and on their way to a remote location doesn't count, having to be pulled from the ditch does.

State of ND official vehicles and Fed vehicles operated within the state also NEED to be included.

I have access to any trucking firm in the US that carrys an  MC (motor carrier) number and it give me all kinds of information right down to the vehicle and driver violations  .  Unfortunately if they only have a dot number I cant get the same info .

It is very interesting to look at , and a heck of a tool

The list would either be very long or very short depending on how the percentages are skewed. The company I work for showed us all our violations for the last three? years. It seemed like a lot, but when you consider the miles driven and the amount of trucks it's not. Where as a small operator with fewer infractions could be pushed up the list. I've been involved with a DOT audit before. Nothing gets past them. Any serious violation is red flagged and if you get enough, you get an audit.

Total # independent of miles driven has to be the 1st stat, unfiltered.

Miles driven vs. events could be a secondary stat.

I wanna know who's in the ditch or the hot seat the most often.

Google "Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration", you can get a company snapshot and company safety records.  You will need the DOT number of the company.  They do not have them listed from worst to best that I have found but they do have percentages that compare them to the rest of the companies.

Keep in mind that like many government stats these can be skeewed a little.

And you can get even more info if they have an MC # and you have that number

ND DOT figures encompassing everything with a commercial registration would suit me better than MC and DOT#'s lest ye miss everything lightweight.

All i know is that little vehicles don't work worth a damn on ice with a 40 mph cross wind.

the number wouldn't mean a thing without knowing miles traveled.

Horseshit!  The number would tell you who offends the most often.

You can stratify later but I wanna know who's most likely to end up in the ditch.

What you asking for may not be legal, if it's not on the FMCSA website it probably is.  I was involved in the trucking industry for 30 years and I know my insurance company could get more info than I could, but it couldn't be released for public review.

Try contacting the ND DOT and see if the state keeps the info and will release it.  I would be curious to know too.

Also, citations are attached to the DOT number as not all trucks are required to have an MC number.

The photo posted by Taylorman55 of the semi in the frozen drink prompted the thunk.  I'm not going to put any work into this, I just wondered if I was the only one who'd like to see the list.

Lots of stratification could accompany the list.  As an industry or vehicle group who's:  overweight?  runnin' red fuel?  safest and least safe/mile? in the ditch most?  speediest?  etc, etc, etc.

And what the heck are you going to do with it? Take the information and a $1.50 and you'll maybe get a cup of coffee.

The arrogance of the present is to forget the wisdom of the past.
