Holy crap how did I miss this!?

On Friday, Sept. 11, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 962, by a 44-31 vote.

Among other regulations, AB 962 would:

• Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition. • Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a vendor or employee. • Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.

That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:

• The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee. • The date of the sale or other transaction. • The purchaser's or transferee's driver's license or other identification number and the state in which it was issued. • The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred. • The purchaser's or transferee's signature. • The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction. • The purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number. • The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth.

The bill is on the desk of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, where it awaits his consideration. He will have until Oct. 11 to sign or veto the bill. If he does not veto the bill, it will become law.

Beginning Feb 1, 2011 individuals in California may no longer receive any ammo via mail/internet ordering.  I bet reloading components are not far behind.  UFF DA!!

You missed it because you actually have a life.    These bastards will never stop.
I'll predict some red states will now pass laws similar to the right to hunt and fish laws of a few years ago to guarantee ammo and components are available to the law abiding citizen.

Wow!

California is suffering from a bout of "Mass Retardation". What a collective bunch of fools!

Something tells me that after this law is enacted gun violence won't "suddenly" drop in percentage.

What these whackos fail to realize over and over again is the fact that criminals will always find ways around these laws to get what they need, thats why they are criminals... hello. But common sense is becoming harder and harder to come by in this day and age.

All the pheasents are going to die in the snow.  That's OK though because the Peasants won't have any ammo anyway.

Although I've been to CA about a dozen times, I've never been to CA on my own dime.  This just reinforces the fact that I never need to sent them even $1 for anydamned thing.

You want to see civil beakdown in the blink of an eye, produce a statewide shutdown like we had for 3-4 days over new years in CA.  It'd be the middle ages by noon on the 2nd day.

all it takes is a sporting event to cause civil disruption...a "disaster" like our blizzard would be flat out pandamonium

I haven't seen the legislation, but I was watching a shooting show the other day as they were highlighting how some ammo was made by Winchester.  They made a pretty big deal out of their being the first to serve the .22 LR market a non-lead bullet.  Well, at least they thought it was a darn big deal because of a California ban on all non-lead ammo.

I didn't recall ever hearing that California had actually passed a full lead ammo ban.  Knew they were bantering it about, but didn't recall news of it passing.

The lead ammo ban in CA is still only in certain areas of the state inhabited by the CA Condor if I remember correctly.

The legislation referenced above bans mail/internet ordering of any "handgun" ammo.  Pretty vague.  What about all of the old west style rifles that are chambered for "handgun" calibers?  How about the fact that Thompson Center chambers/makes a bbl for darned near everything and the kitchen sink in their Encore line, which is easily and quickly turned into a handgun by anyone who understands the ins and outs of operating a philips head screwdriver and an allen wrench?

I doubt the master minds behind this law really care if there is confusion on what is legal or illegal.

I suspect they're COUNTING on said confusion.  Vagueitude allows the jackboots to do whatever they darn well please.  Media will cover said jackboot tracks.

Did Arnold sign that ban?  I read that he wasn't going to do it, but then didn't hear anything more about it?   Even in the "Rifleman" or "Hunter."

Of course we are all members of at least one  pro gun group  so we can all lend our collective voices to fight silly, ineffective, feel good  legislation like this!  Thank Goodness for gun owner's support!
